What Is Facial Balancing? How Sculptra and Restylane Work Together to Restore Your Natural Structure

If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and felt like something was “off” — like your face looked tired, flat, or unbalanced — but you couldn’t quite put your finger on why, you’re not imagining it. What you’re likely noticing is volume loss, structural shift, or asymmetry that’s developed gradually over time. Facial balancing is the clinical approach to addressing exactly that — and at Yasthetics & Wellness, it’s one of the most transformative treatments we offer.

What Is Facial Balancing?

Facial balancing is not about changing who you are. It’s about restoring what time, gravity, and lifestyle have shifted. As we age, we lose bone density, fat pads migrate downward, and collagen production slows. The result? Hollowed cheeks, a softened jawline, deepened nasolabial folds, and an overall tired or deflated appearance — even when you feel great.

Facial balancing uses a combination of injectable treatments, placed strategically across multiple zones of the face, to restore proportion, symmetry, and structure. The goal isn’t to fill every line — it’s to look like a more rested, refreshed version of yourself. At Yasthetics, every treatment plan starts with a full facial anatomy assessment before a single syringe is opened.

Why We Combine Sculptra and Restylane

Not all fillers work the same way — and knowing the difference is what separates a good injector from a great one. For facial balancing, we frequently combine Sculptra (a biostimulator) with Restylane (a hyaluronic acid filler) because together, they address both the immediate and long-term needs of the face.

Sculptra — The Foundation

Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid, a collagen stimulator that works by triggering your body’s own collagen production over time. It doesn’t just fill — it rebuilds. Results develop gradually over 3–6 months and can last 2+ years. Sculptra is ideal for restoring lost volume in the cheeks, temples, and mid-face — areas where the structural “scaffolding” of the face has deteriorated.

Restylane — The Sculptor

Restylane is a hyaluronic acid filler that provides immediate, precise volume and definition. Where Sculptra builds the foundation gradually, Restylane lets us sculpt specific contours with accuracy — refining the jawline, adding chin projection, softening marionette lines, or contouring the cheekbones. Results are visible immediately and last 12–18 months.

Used together, Sculptra handles the long-game — rebuilding collagen and volume from within — while Restylane handles the detail work. The combination produces results that are both immediate and lasting, natural-looking rather than “done,” and comprehensive rather than isolated.

Areas We Treat With Facial Balancing

A facial balancing treatment at Yasthetics is fully customized to your anatomy. Common treatment zones include:

Cheeks: Mid-face volume loss is one of the earliest signs of aging. Restoring cheek projection lifts the entire face and reduces the appearance of folds and hollows below.

Jawline: A defined jawline creates structure and separation between the face and neck. Filler along the jaw can sharpen contour and address jowling.

Chin: Chin projection affects how the rest of the face is perceived. A proportionally balanced chin improves the entire profile.

Temples: Hollowed temples age the face significantly. Sculptra in this area restores the smooth, rounded contour of youth.

Marionette lines: The lines that run from the corners of the mouth downward create a tired or sad expression. Filler here lifts the lower face and softens the appearance.

Under-eye / tear trough: Dark hollows under the eyes can be addressed with careful placement of filler to restore fullness and reduce shadowing.

What to Expect at Yasthetics

Every facial balancing treatment at Yasthetics & Wellness begins with a thorough consultation. As the sole injector, I— Yassam Osbourne, RN — assess your facial anatomy, discuss your goals, and develop a treatment plan before we begin. You’re not handed off to anyone else. Every syringe is placed by me, personally.

Treatment typically takes 45–90 minutes depending on the number of areas treated. Sculptra sessions are usually scheduled in a series of 2–3 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart for optimal collagen stimulation, while Restylane results are visible the same day. Most patients experience minimal downtime — some swelling and tenderness for 24–48 hours is normal.

Real Results: Before & After

Facial Balancing

The resuls shown above were achieved using a combination of Sculptra and Restylane. Notice the restored cheek volume, the lifted and defined jawline, and the improved facial proportions across all three angles. This patient did not have surgery. These results are from injectables, strategically placed with an anatomy-first approach.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Facial Balancing?

You may be a great candidate for facial balancing if you:

• Notice volume loss or hollowing in your cheeks, temples, or under eyes

• Feel your jawline or chin has softened or lost definition

• Look tired or aged even when you feel rested

• Want natural-looking results that enhance your features rather than change them

• Are interested in a non-surgical alternative to a facelift

• Are in good general health and have realistic expectations

Facial balancing is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and is contraindicated for patients with certain autoimmune conditions or bleeding disorders. A full health history is collected at your consultation.

Ready to See What’s Possible for Your Face?

If you’ve been curious about facial balancing, the best first step is a consultation. We’ll assess your anatomy together, look at what’s changed over time, and build a plan that makes sense for your face — not a template.
